This great ‘work-ready’ training project is designed specifically for teens/adults with disabilities. The focus of this ‘NEXT STEP’ program is to expose the kids to various work situations, educate them with hands on applications and start preparing them for the workforce through controlled and positive experiences.
We have three special training sessions set up for our amazing ‘Next Step’ participants. Each session is designed to prepare our participants for their first project, learning important life skills and participation is the key to unlocking success!
Project - Drab 2 Fab
Project - Drab 2 Fab is a wonderful opportunity for teens and young adults who are creative and interested in learning how to re purpose Furniture items - how to take something that is drab and up-cycle it into a Fab saleable item. Young entrepreneurs, those who like to work with their hands, this program is perfect for you!
Project - Yes, I Can Grow
Next Step - ‘Yes I Can Grow’ Project is all about the outdoors. Participants will get to work on their own community plot at Lyons Lane, Oakville. This will create positive, nurturing environment that connects the senses, allowing the participants to learn how to plant, grow, and harvest, ultimately prepare healthy eating experiences. They will be involved in the whole project - from concept of planting, to the business of how to sell their herbs and vegetables at the local fresh market.
