HYDAC Virtual Meeting - June 2021

Our Halton Youth Disability Advisory Council are changing perspectives Learning about new things and advocating in your region was the theme of this month’s HYDAC meeting.

Did you know? Learning ‘New Things Make Us Feel Good”, did you know there is a section in the brain known as the SN/VTA. Here is what happens: * You experience something new. * The “novelty center” of your brain is activated. * You get a rush of dopamine that motivates you to follow through with the new thing. * You get another rush of dopamine when you finish the activity

Why learn something new? FUN! Why on earth learn something if it’s not fun? A sense of accomplishment and pride. Your brain chemistry changes. Your learning speed increases. Learning something new will make you happier.
